iPhone contract manufacturer Foxconn invests $811 million in EV factory
The rumors have been flying since the Foxconn Technology Group’s June announcement that it plans to build an EV with a price tag of less than $15,000. The Taiwanese company builds iPhones for Apple and the touchscreen for the Tesla Model S.
Recently Foxconn revealed that it plans to invest at least 5 billion yuan ($811 million) to develop EV manufacturing in China’s Shanxi province, where it already has two factories.

Chicago orders 20 electric garbage trucks
The City of Chicago has placed a purchase order with Motiv Power Systems for up to $13.4 million to supply 20 electric garbage trucks.The ERV is a Class 8 truck with a Loadmaster Excel-S rear loader body and a Crane Carrier chassis. It has a gross weight of 60,000 lbs and a capacity of 9 tons or 20 cubic yards of refuse. Total power is 280 kW (375 hp), and top speed is 50 mph. ...

REPORTS: Tesla Chooses Nevada For Site Of Its Massive Battery Factory

CNBC is reporting Tesla has chosen Nevada as the site of its Gigafactory.
The Gigafactory is a critical piece of CEO Elon Musk's plan to make a mass-market Tesla car, and lower the cost of carbon-neutral power. Musk has said he intends to double the world's supply of lithium-ion batteries by 2020 and thus drive the price of the power packs downward. 2014 Tesla Model X all-electric crossover with 'Falcon Doors' open
The 2015 Tesla Model X electric crossover is already attracting enthusiasm from, among others, the analysts at Morgan Stanley.
Apparently, the Model X won't just match the premium-crossover competition, it will "devour" it.
The Model X won't launch until mid-2015--and no one outside Tesla has yet driven it--but Morgan Stanley is confident the plug-in crossover will be more successful than the Model S sedan, according to The Los Angeles Times.
